Overseas Trip 2008 Image 1

The destination for this year's overseas trip was the playground for the rich and famous that is Puerto Banus in Southern Spain.
A group of 15 including golfers and non golfers and led by club professional Darren Everett jetted off to sunny Spain for 7 days of golf, sun and sangria.

The group stayed at the Andalusia Plaza hotel in Puerto Banus just a short walk from the world famous marina. The size of some of the yachts moored up in the marina had to be seen to be believed. One of the group enquired into the cost of one and was told he would need to part with a cool 2.6 million euros in order to purchase one, I think he may think again!!

The group played 4 rounds of golf at Capabhino, Los Naranjos, Santa Clara and Los Aqueros. Each course was in superb condition and offered a different challenge to all who played.
The prize fund through the week included best daily scores as well as nearest the pins and a two's sweep.
The prizes were very well spread throughout the group with varying winners each day. The overall winners for the week were Amanda Webber for the ladies and Darren Everett Club Professional for the men.
Two notable achievements were the best individual score of the week which was a fantastic 32 points at Santa Clara by Bob Pile and also the feat by Colin Brooks of taking 61 holes of golf to lose his first ball of the week!! Two tremendous efforts on such demanding golf courses.

Great fun was had both on and off the course which included a …..mmm not sure quite how to put it….possibly unique is the correct term to describe Steve West's attempt at Flamenco dancing !!! Don't give up the day job Steve! Leah Webber showed Steve the way with an assured display of hip wiggling and Latino flair.
The inaugural corridor crazy golf championship also took place through the week at the hotel and the long putt competition was won with a 60 yard effort all the way down the corridor to room 386, a fantastic effort on such a slick and undulating carpet.

The crazy putt to the elevator competition was also a keenly fought contest with the winning score of 7 shots a truly great effort.
Well done to all those who took part and a special well done to Amanda Webber who took part in full golf course dress code, good to see standards are not slipping.

As you can tell the week went without a hitch and the only complaint heard all week was a comment about the beer being to cold, the culprit will not be living that one down for a while.

Next years trip looks like taking place in Portugal at the beginning of March and as details arise they will be posted on the website for those that may be interested.
