Senior Actual Handicap Trophy
Item 56

The Portmore Senior Section held a unique competition on Monday 5th July.

The Actual Handicap Trophy is designed to help those who play off a higher handicap and would struggle to compete in normal competition conditions against lower handicap golfers.

The handicaps were revised based on recent results and performances of the players and handicaps were given on the day up to 45 and were calculated to allow the higher handicaps to play off what they had actually been playing to.

The idea proved hugely popular amongst the Seniors and the results on the day were interesting.

The winner of the Trophy was Andy Jones who was given a 45 handicap and amassed 47pts. 2nd place was Alan Broom who had 40pts off a 41 handicap.

The non revised handicap golfers also produced some good scores with Don Churchill recording 40pts and Simon Hopkins and Dave Darch both totalling 39pts.

Everyone agreed that the day had been a success and it will be interesting to see if any more clubs will follow suit with the concept.
