Six of the Portmore junior section are heading off to Farrington Golf Club in Bristol at the beginning of August to take part in the regional final of the national skills challenge.
The English Golf Union run the skills challenge all across the UK giving juniors the chance to test their skills on five different areas of their games.
These areas are putting,chipping,pitching,bunkers and the full swing. There are two challenges to compete in and after each challenge the scores are registered on the main skills challenge website where leaderboards are produced so juniors can see how they are doing.After the second round their scores are added up and the top scores progress.
3 boys and 3 girls from each age section and each region qualify for the regional final hoping then to win through to the national final at Woodhall Spa.
The 6 qualifiers were:
9-11 Tom Poole / 12-14 Amie Walker, Joe Southon and Mark Peters / 15-17 Sam Southon and James Poole.
